Today is the 66th anniversary of the Roswell UFO incident reporting! (Thanks, Google!)
There are SO many movies about alien foes, alien friends and intergalactic travelers. It was hard to choose!
10. Lilo and Stitch
9. Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
The movie could never live up to the book.
8. Barbarella
Freaky children! Creepy dolls! Hot babes! In outer space! Campy fun.
7. Titan AE
Sidenote- I have a total crush on Matt Damon. I met him once.
6. Starship Troopers
It’s sort of a rip off of Armor. Whatever. It’s still cool.
5. It Came From Outer Space
Which is less about aliens than it is about the Cold War
4. Superman: Doomsday
The most popular alien of all time unearths intergalactic serial killer Doomsday and ends up in the fight of his life in this PG-13 goodie.
3. Astro-Zombies
The best/worst movie of all time!
2. Repo Man
In this 1984 CLASSIC Otto, Leila, a secret government agent, and rival Mexican repo men, the Rodriguez Brothers, all compete with each other to find the Malibu containing 4 dead but dangerous aliens. The Malibu is being driven around Los Angeles by a scientist, who originally stole the aliens from and drove to California, slowly losing his sanity on the way due to the radiation omitted by the aliens.
1. Fifth Element
Have you watched any of these goodies? What would you put on your list?
Honorable mentions to both ET and the Avengers!
Ha! Love the clip for Astro-Zombies =) I’m a fan of Fifth Element too. Great movie. I would include Monsters vs. Aliens on my list 😉
Fun post! Thanks for sharing.
Astro-Zombies is amazing! I haven’t seen Monsters vs. Aliens, most of the movies I thought of first were kids movies. 🙂
Totally on point with the fifth element.
what about Alien or Aliens? Or Predator. Or ID4. Or District 9?
I did like District 9. It was so gross. haha
I did miss Alien/Aliens. I should have done a Top 25! So many good choices!! (I couldn’t fit Star Wars!)
Let me add Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. Both are Steven Spielberg films and both are amazing!
Titan A.E. was a really cool, fun, underrated movie. One of these days I really out to get it on DVD.
I’ve always enjoyed It Came From Outer Space. Unlike practically every other sci-fi movie from the 1950s, the aliens aren’t evil invaders, but are merely attempting to stay alive long enough to repair their spaceship & get off of Earth. Plus it was co-written by Ray Bradbury.
The Fifth Element is probably my favorite movie ever. I used to fall asleep to the movie lol. I also love Barbarella! I’m thinking of being her for Halloween. Another favorite of mine is The Iron Giant.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy had NO chance of living up to the book. You just can’t contain that much awesomeness in a 2 hour movie.
I loved The Fifth Element. It had such memorable characters…like the TV host guy. It is probably my favorite sci-fi movie of all time.
I agree with both those things 🙂
Great list, and happy that The Fifth Element is on the list, it’s definitely one of my all time favourite movies!
Confession… I can’t stand Lilo and Stitch.
What??? Lol, it’s okay. But I love that little fur ball.
